Monkey Barrel Comedy, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Right from the start I knew this would be a great hour of comedy! Kiri Pritchard-McLean comes to the stage with such confidence and stage presence. She speaks so well and so clearly. I know that's a funny thing to point out, but it struck me straight away. I've sat through a lot of badly presented corporate business meetings where you lose the will to live immediately due to the ineptitude of the presenter.
But not here; Kiri has you enthralled from the off!! You know you are in safe hands. She is also wearing the sparkly leotard and earrings of my dreams like I hoped she would. My hero!
This is a brilliant set and of course is very funny, but Kiri also touches on some serious matters like Welsh language oppression and the glaring whiteness and privilege of the fringe and in stand-up comedy in general. Kiri was funny and filthy at times! But I also learnt something - I will genuinely be reading more into some of the issues she raised.
You should also know (if you don't already) that Kiri is a Good Person. She is bankrolling other, newer acts at the fringe, giving others a hand up and enabling them to attend what can be a very expensive festival. She collects money at each of her shows that she then uses to supporting working class acts at the fringe. And she also donates some of it to food banks.
Kiri keeps some tickets to each show in reserve every day for PWYC (pay what you can) tickets. Meaning no one should ever be priced out of her shows.
Holy moly. What. An. Angel!
I never buy merchandise and I bought Kiri's merch because she makes me want to cry she is so kind. Support her! Give her what you can. What a true diamond.
