Queenz The Show with balls - review

Queenz, The Show with Balls!

Assembly Music Hall

Edinburgh Festival Fringe

24 August 2022

Queenz, The Show with Balls! is a drag show like no other. There is no lip-synching here! Bringing us the biggest pop tunes of all time, the Queenz all dance and sing live. And boy can they dance and sing! They are born entertainers.

The costumes, the set and the Queenz themselves are all gorgeous. The staging is slick and professional. This is a drag show with West End values.

My favourite section was the musical theatre melody (naturally) but although the tunes may be familiar, the words have been changed to fit the performance. It's funny and clever, and fabulously done. ('Defying Gravity' becomes 'Defying gender roles' for example!)

There are some heartfelt moments in the show. It is genuinely moving to see these wonderful performers be their best selves and to live out their dreams in front of a supportive and adoring audience. I left with my heart full.

The poster says that the Queenz dance like Britney and sing like Whitney... Having seen 1 of those live, I can confirm that the Queenz are better!

This is a brilliant night out, the atmosphere was electric and the audience were always ready to jump to their feet and join in the party. I suggest you do to. You won't regret it.
