Great UK theatre exists outside of London's West End! There are numerous Scottish theatre companies and arts venues that put on fantastic productions locally every year. Here are just a few of the exciting Scottish theatre productions and events happening in February and March 2026.

Mistero Buffo
The Scots language version of Dario Fo's Mistero Buffo is part of Vanishing Point's winter residency at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow. If you missed Lawrence Boothman's breathtaking performance at A Play, A Pie and A Pint last year, get yourself over to the Citz between 5 and 7 February.

The Manipulate Festival
Manipulate Arts - Scotland’s home for cutting-edge animation, puppetry and visual theatre - runs its 2026 programme across Edinburgh from 4 to 10 February. They have also announced a series of free pop-up performances.

The Events
Originally staged in Cumbernauld in October 2024, Wonder Fools powerful play The Events is on tour across Scotland this spring 2026 with a brand-new local choir at every venue. "David Greig’s modern classic returns in a bold new staging by Wonder Fools in association with Cumbernauld Theatre."

Saint Joan
Reimagining George Bernard Shaw’s classic play for the 2020s, Raw Material Art's stripped-back, close-up staging of Saint Joan is based on the extraordinary true story of a sixteen-year-old girl who led France to victory in the Hundred Years' War.

A Play, A Pie and A Pint Spring season
Glasgow’s iconic lunchtime theatre company, A Play, A Pie and A Pint, returns with 18 shows from February to June 2026 at Òran Mór, Glasgow and across Scotland. “From pro-immigration protests to nights down the bingo, from Greek myths to a Scottish football story in the run-up to the World Cup, all life is here, teeming in this new Spring season that we’re thrilled to announce." A Giant on the Bridge
Award-winning gig-theatre performed by Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow), Kim Grant (Raveloe), Dave Hook (Solareye, Stanley Odd), Jo Mango and Jill O’Sullivan.
"Every year in Scotland, thousands of people return home from prison to an uncertain future. A Giant on the Bridge reveals the intimate human experiences within this prison-homecoming journey, in an unflinching narrative-gig which fuses acoustic songwriting, Scottish hip hop & original storytelling." On tour across Scotland, starting at Cottiers in Glasgow on 25th February.
Waiting for Godot
Matthew Kelly and George Costigan are to star in the Citizens Theatre's new production of Waiting for Godot, co-produced with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse and Octagon Theatre Bolton. Directed by Citizens Theatre Artistic Director Dominic Hill, the new staging of Samuel Beckett’s classic play will premiere at the Citz between 20 February and 14 March before touring to Liverpool and Bolton.

Medea
Bard in the Botanics, in association with Raw Material are taking their award-winning production of Euripides' Medea by Kathy McKean across Scotland this spring. Medea is directed by Gordon Barr and stars Nicole Cooper in the title role.

One Day the musical

RCS: Amélie, The Penelopiad & Much Ado About Nothing
As always at this time of year, the talented graduating classes from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's BA Musical Theatre and BA Acting courses stage full productions of works we rarely see at other theatres in Glasgow. This spring RCS have performances of Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad, Amélie - a musical based on the beloved 2001 film, as well as Shakespeare comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

SCOTS
SCOTS the musical is Raw Material's hilarious history of Scotland, narrated by a toilet! Following runs at A Play, A Pie and A Pint, and at the Edinburgh Fringe, the show has been upscaled and will tour across Scotland from 4 March to 4 April 2026.

Sailmaker
Ayr Gaiety Theatre, in association with Beacon Arts Centre have revived Alan Spence's Sailmaker for a Scottish tour this Spring. First performed in 1982, Sailmaker is a set text for National 5 English and remains a powerful and resonant piece for audiences of all ages.

Movies to Musicals
Movies to Musicals have announced two shows for spring 2026: one in Glasgow and one in London. Both will feature the "kids cast" of local young musical theatre talent alongside Glasgow Philharmonia orchestra and guest stars from the West End stage. The Trials
Glasgow Tron theatre are staging Dawn King’s The Trials from 6 to 14 March. Directed by Joanna Bowman, The Trials hands over the stage to a jury of 12 young people who are holding adults accountable for the damage they have done to the climate.

Flora
Flora is the musical from Genesis Theatre Productions, which sees one of Scotland’s most famous daughters, Flora MacDonald, step out of the shadows of Bonnie Prince Charlie and take centre stage to tell her own tale. Featuring an ensemble cast of some of Scotland’s most exciting stage and screen talent, this bold new production makes its World Premiere at Eden Court (20 – 21 March 2026) before touring to Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow (26 – 28 March 2026).
