Leah MacRae is a well kent face on Scottish TV and stage (River City, Gary: Tank Commander, 51 Shades of Maggie) and she's back at the Edinburgh Fringe this year with her brand new show 'Leah MacRae Weighs In'.

Leah burst onto the stage full of life, glee and genuine warmth for her audience. Her crowd interaction is brilliant: everyone feels included - if they want to be.

Over the next hour Leah tells us stories, makes us laugh and opens up about some of her own personal struggles. It was scarily relatable to me - has she been living in my head?

This is a comedy show with heart. It was like going for a drink with a best friend, if that friend not only has your back, but is also no-nonsense, funny and wise. There are some cracking original songs thrown into the mix too. The Educational Tampon song is a belter.

Leah is a very talented lady who belongs on the stage, but she is very much down to earth and in touch with her audience too. After listening to Leah's stories, songs and advice, the crowd left empowered and uplifted. Doctors should be prescribing this show!

A quick note on the room: This is a lovely venue. The auditorium at the museum is modern, bright and spacious. The seats are generous and comfy. I know how important that is at a Fringe Show!

This is a lovely way to spend an hour and Leah deserves a much bigger crowd than she had last night. The audience were great though; fully engaged, lively, respectful and most definitely on Leah's side. You can't help but root for Leah. She's a gem.
