The London sensation BALLET NIGHTS makes its hotly anticipated Scottish debut at Glasgow Theatre Royal on July 4th 2025. The mixed programme of ballet, contemporary dance and live music is produced by former Scottish Ballet Soloist, Jamiel Devernay-Laurence who also acts as compère throughout the evening.

This uniquely styled dance programme features performances by the award-winning ballerina Constance Devernay-Laurence – former Principal of Scottish Ballet and currently in the Prime TV series ‘Etoile’ – as well as former Principal stars of Scottish Ballet Sophie Martin and Eve Mutso, Glasgow-born ballet star Andrew Cummings, and Scottish Ballet Orchestra violinist Gillian Risi. Steven McRae, globally renowned, award-winning Principal of the Royal Ballet, will be co-headlining the programme and, in a thrilling opportunity for young dancers, will be holding masterclasses at Wallace Studios, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on July 5th.

What is Ballet Nights?

BALLET NIGHTS GLASGOW celebrates former Principal stars of Scottish Ballet and audience favourites Sophie Martin, Eve Mutso and Constance Devernay-Laurence alongside the Royal Ballet’s global superstar Principal Steven McRae, Birmingham Royal Ballet’s former Principal Tyrone Singleton, Glasgow-born ballet star Andrew Cummings, and London’s Ballet Nights sensation BlacBrik. Ballet Nights resident house concert pianist Viktor Erik Emanuel will be joined onstage by Gillian Risi, Scottish Ballet Orchestra violinist.

Jamiel Devernay-Laurence says:

"As a former dancer with Scottish Ballet for over a decade, Glasgow holds a very special place in my heart and my creative soul. In bringing my show concept to my old home, Ballet Nights offers me and many returning former Scottish Ballet stars the chance to reconnect with the audiences that made us, and to share our passion for dance with the community that helped us cut our teeth. I’m equally excited to showcase the global acts we've been growing the show with in London, alongside rarely seen Scottish voices - bringing our unique blend of artistry and innovation to Glasgow, and celebrating the magic of dance with audiences old and new.

“And that’s not all! We are bringing an entire BALLET NIGHTS WEEKEND to the city: in addition to our live programme of performance at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal, we will be hosting a day of masterclasses for young students on July 5th at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Wallace Studios. Ballet Nights Masterclasses allow dance students to work with an international team of guest coaches headed by, in Glasgow, the world-renowned Royal Ballet Principal, Steven McRae. It’s destined to be an unforgettable day of intensive training, dance mastery and creative exploration.”

The day is curated to provide a versatile mix of dance and coaching to inspire the students alongside their everyday dancing. This is a rare opportunity and not to be missed!”

Students will be in three age groups: 9-11 (Junior), 12-14 (Mids) and 15-16 (Senior). They will spend the day with a superb lineup of course leaders including Royal Ballet Principal Steven McRae, former Scottish Ballet and Rambert performer and choreographer Daniel Davidson, lecturer in ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and former dancer with Scottish Ballet Louisa Ross, West End musical theatre performer Abbie Brown and accompanist Michael Barnett, piano lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
