Johnny McKnight returns as Dame Magic Merlina, Headmistress of Magic Merlina’s School for Magical Minors. Johnny will also write and direct the production, having written Macrobert’s panto since 2007 to great acclaim.
Joining Johnny will be Macrobert regular Helen McAlpine (Snow White, Macrobert), who will be delighting audiences in the role of Hansel-No-Solo, alongside Kara Swinney (Snow White, Macrobert) as best pal Gretel.
Robbie Jack (Aladdin, Macrobert) is set to have audiences gleefully booing and hissing as this year’s baddie, the Sheriff of Stirling-Stella-ham.
Dani Heron (Mother Goose, Ayr) will also join the cast as feral forest hooligan and thieving wee radge Little Red.
Robin MacKenzie (Brigadoon, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) will spook and charm in equal measure in his dual role as Big Bad Wolf/Ronaldo.
Rounding out the cast are Katie Weir (To Save The Sea) as Ensemble/Understudy/Dance Captain and Craig Hunter (A Mother’s Song) as Ensemble/Understudy.
Weans in the Wood will also feature a stellar Young Cast of 12-17 year olds, who will join the show’s ensemble to sing, dance and act up a storm.
Ed Robson, Artistic Director of Macrobert Arts Centre commented:
“Our pantomime is a highlight of Macrobert’s yearly programme, and we’re so excited to have such a wonderful cast of actors together for what’s sure to be another magical Christmas in Stirling Stella. We can’t wait for audiences to laugh, sing along and get into a merry mood at Weans in the Wood this festive season.”
