Full cast announced for Edinburgh Royal Lyceum's 2025 Christmas show Cinderella: A Fairytale

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh has today announced the full cast for this Year's Christmas production Cinderella: A Fairytale which runs at the venue from 28 November 2025 to 3 January 2026.

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh is delighted to announce full casting for this year’s highly anticipated Christmas production, Cinderella: A Fairytale which sees a new contemporary retelling of the beloved classic fairytale come to life on the Edinburgh stage.


Tron Theatre’s Artistic Director Jemima Levick (A View from The Bridge, River City, Maggie May) directs this modern adaptation of the classic fairytale from Sally Cookson (A Monster Calls, Dracula: Mina’s Reckoning, The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe) joined by Bristol Old Vic Associate Artist Adam Peck (A Monster Calls, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, 140 Million Miles) and the Original Company.


Cinderella: A Fairytale follows Ella who, after the death of her mother, is brought up by her devoted father who also shares her love for woodland birds and their calls. But when her father remarries and everything drastically changes, Ella's feathered friends begin to feel like her only true family. Until one day - when a mysterious boy stumbles upon Ella's tree hideout, holding an invitation to the Queen's Celebratory Ball. Can Ella make it to the Ball in time? And is there more to her bird friends than meets the eye…?

Taking on the titular role of Ella is Olivia Hemmati who recently made her professional stage debut in the National Theatre of Scotland's KELI. Also joining the cast is the welcomed return of Nicole Cooper (Macbeth (an undoing) (Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh); Hedda, Gabler, Lear’s Fool, Medea (Bard in the Botanics) The Tempest, A View From the Bridge (Glasgow Tron) as Mother; Christina Gordon (Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of) (West End, North America, Tron Theatre, UK tour), Who Pays the Piper (Oran Mor), Kidnapped (NTS, UK tour), The Stamping Ground (Raw Materials/Eden Court) as Sister and Lyceum Christmas favourite Richard Conlon (Don’t. Make. Tea. (Birds of Paradise/Soho Theatre); Scots (A Play, a Pie & a Pint/NYC transfer); The Snow Queen; An Edinburgh Christmas Carol; The Crucible; A View From The Bridge; The Merchant of Venice (Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh) returns to the stage as Father.


Completing the cast are Matthew Forbes (Disney’s The Lion King (UK Ireland tour); Sleeping Beauty (Mercury Theatre), War Horse (West End); War Horse – The Prom (Royal Albert Hall); Beauty & The Beast (Dundee Rep); Hot Fuzz (Working Title Films); Robin Hood (BBC)) as Brother. Daniel Baskharoun (The Real Thing (The Old Vic); Old Times (National Theatre); Choose Your Fighter (Votive Theatre Company); Legally Blonde, 9 to 5 (Citizens Theatre) as Prince and Carly Anderson (Crazy For You (Chichester Festival Theatre, Gillian Lynne Theatre); Wicked (international tour); Sunset Boulevard (ENO); Sunny Afternoon (Harold Pinter Theatre); Traces (Alibi); Trust Me (BBC)) as Queen.


Also taking to the stage as the ensemble are Stephanie Cremona (A Toast Fae The Lassies, Sunshine on Leith, The 39 Steps (Pitlochry Festival Theatre); Grease (Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Blackpool Grand Theatre); Jack & The Beanstalk (Leeds City Varieties); A Christmas Carol, Cinderella (Dundee Rep); Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (UK tour) and Leo Shak (A Monster Calls, Much Ado About Nothing (Guildford School of Acting)).


Sally Cookson's Oliver award-nominated adaptation of Cinderella features music, puppetry, and festive fun, adding a magical flutter of wings to happily ever after.
