Cast confirmed for new British musical Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical, at Edinburgh Fringe 2025

Vagabond Skies, The Van Gogh Musical is performing at the Gilded Balloon at the Museum at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 for a limited run from 30 July to 21 August at 9pm. Today the full cast has been announced.

This new British musical written by Tony Norman with orchestration by Mark Edwards, was inspired by the letters between Vincent and his much-loved brother Theo and will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe, directed by Sarah Dormady.

The production’s cast just announced includes Alex Bloomer (The Lion King, West End) who plays Vincent van Gogh, with Richard Dawes (Stiletto, Charing Cross Theatre) as Theo van Gogh. Jordan Frazier (Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, West End) as Agostina and Francesca Leyland (Les Misérables, West End and 25th Anniversary Production at the 02) as Johanna van Gogh-Bonger.

Also Patrick Jennings (Kinky Boots and Matilda the Musical, NZ tour) as Gaugin, Maren Ovida (Miss Honey in RSC's Matilda the Musical, Norway) as Sien and Anna Unwin (I Should Be So Lucky, UK tour and Aspects of Love, West End) as Rachel.

Ensemble includes Max Cadman (Joey Tribbiani in ‘Friends: The Musical Parody’ UK & Ireland tour) - also cover for Vincent, Sacha Koplewsky making his professional debut (Grandpa George in Mountview College production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) - also cover for Theo. Ensemble is completed by Jake White (Oliver Warbucks in Annie, Diesel in West Side Story, both Eastbourne) and Amy Bennett (Cinderella - Chaplins, Christmas Cracker - Theatre by QE2).

About Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical

A sung through biographical musical, the show takes the audience on a captivating and emotional journey with the man who was to become the most famous artist in the world. Gut-wrenching and uplifting in equal measure, this new production depicts Vincent's later years with emotive songs and vivid artwork that portray his resilience despite a constant cycle of unfulfilled love, rejection, loneliness and mental turmoil.

While a completely unique creative production, the audience experience is reminiscent of the grit of Peaky Blinders, the emotion of Les Mis and the enduring optimism of Moulin Rouge. This original musical will stay with audiences long after the final curtain.
