The soundtrack playing as the audience take their seats for Pals proudly belts out Amy MacDonald and KT Tunstall hits: Scottish Women are the order of the day and it's very welcome!
Pals is a Scottish female-led theatre production. Written, directed and starring young Scottish talent, Pals is an adventure comedy play about four friends in their early twenties who take off on a camping trip in an attempt to escape their everyday troubles.
Featuring a little bit of Gaelic, Pals is primarily performed in a natural west of Scottish accent. And by that I mean, if you've ever heard a group of young 'twenty somethings' have a private conversation, it's very sweary, blunt and funny. Their parents would disapprove - yes, but this is nevertheless a true reflection of how girls talk when they're together, excited and comfortable with one another.
From periods to pizza-crunch, work troubles and family stresses, Pals is a snapshot into a day-in-the-life of a group of besties dealing with everything life throws their way.

Pals is at the Gilded Balloon Patter House until 26 August.
*I have not added a star-rating to this post as I am unable to review it further. Due to factors outwith the control of the performers, I can't do so fairly.
