Glaswegian actor cast alongside Bridgerton and ITV's Midsomer Murders stars in the world premier stage adaptation of the beloved English detective drama. Find out more below.

Ahead of the latest series of hit Netflix show Bridgerton, actor James Bradwell, who played Lord Basilio in series 3, joins the UK tour cast of Midsomer Murders.


Original actor from the ITV series, Daniel Casey, also joins the play in the role of Inspector Barnaby.


Glaswegian actor John Dougall will play the dual roles of Doctor Trevor Lessiter and Henry Trace.


The classic ITV drama Midsomer Murders has been adapted for the stage for the first time.

James Bradwell (Lord Basilio in Bridgerton, Season Three) will star opposite Daniel Casey (Inspector Tom Barnaby) as Sergeant Gavin Troy in the world premiere of Guy Unsworth’s stage adaptation of Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift, coming to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal from Tuesday 17- Saturday 21 February 2026.


The residents of Midsomer will be played by a multi-rolling ensemble of actors: Nathalie Barclay, Chandrika Chevli, Julie Legrand, Rupert Sadler, Chris Agha and Rhîan Crowley-McLean and Glaswegian actor John Dougall as Doctor Trever Lessiter and Henry Trace.

About Midsomer Murders the play


The world premiere of Guy Unsworth’s stage adaptation is based on the book by Caroline Graham, The Killings at Badger’s Drift, and the television series Midsomer Murders produced by Bentley Productions for ITV, in association with All3Media International.


Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift is adapted and directed by Guy Unsworth, with design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Matt Haskins, sound design by Ella Wahlström, music by Max Pappenheim and casting by Ginny Schiller CDG.


The tour opened at Richmond Theatre on 24 October and will tour the UK through to May 2026.  New dates have been added to the tour in Cheltenham, Cardiff, Bromley, Darlington and Manchester.

Daniel Casey is best known for playing Sgt Troy in Midsomer Murders between 1997 and 2008.
